what a boudoir session feels like | vancouver bc boudoir

I wish I could capture the true behind the scenes essence.

The chats we share in the makeup chair. The stories swapped. The rants we go on together about our society and how it raises us. The pictures we share of our dog babies, or human babies.

How the chats we share together have a habit of getting real, deep, raw, vulnerable – and it just feels right.

The way that Alison, our hair and makeup artist reads your mind while doing your makeup and chats you up to ease your worries. The way your shoulders start to relax and you start to feel at ease in the process.

How all your worries of not enoughness start to fade into the background. How it all just feels so natural, easy, and right.

The way the first few poses might feel a lil nerve wracking still – but then as I keep showing you the poses and hyping you tf up, the more you start to get into your own flow.

The way you start breathing and feeling into your body. The way your hands trace little spells of self-love onto your skin – letting the magic seep into your bones.

The way you light up and start to throw your hair around with a lil ✨extra oomph✨. The laugh breaks. The breathing. The way it goes by so quickly and you say “it’s over too soon!”

The way your eyes light up at your reveal. Seeing yourself in a new light. Seeing yourself as the powerful yet soft work of art you are. The way you were silently scared you wouldn’t like any of them - and now you’re struggling to choose because you see a part of yourself you love in each photo.

The way your eyes tear up, knowing you should have done this years ago. But you’re doing it now, and you’re so grateful for yourself for choosing yourself.

The way saying goodbye comes too quickly. But I see you leaving with your chin raised a little taller, and a new sparkle in your eye. Ready to take this ember we started and feed its flame into your daily life.

A boudoir session feels like a lot of things… but mostly, it just feels like coming home.
